USPS – Exceeded quota limit

429 “Exceeded quota limit”

The 429 “Exceeded quota limit” response comes from USPS API — it means USPS is rejecting your requests because the account/app has reached or is blocked by their quota or is not fully authorized. This is not a plugin bug.

Please do the following:

  • Verify your REST credentials – Double-check the Consumer Key and Consumer Secret you entered (no extra spaces or hidden characters). See how to verify credentials and authorization,
  • Confirm your app is authorized and approved by USPS – USPS requires explicit authorization and sometimes manual activation/approval of apps. Make sure your application is approved in the USPS developer portal (OAuth/onboarding). See the authorization steps and instructions in the same guide above.
  • Contact USPS to resolve quota/activation – The 429 quota error requires USPS assistance. Contact USPS Web Tools / API support and ask them to review your application’s quota and activation status. Use [email protected] or the USPS Web Tools inquiry form.
  • If, after confirming credentials and authorization, the issue persists, open a support request with USPS ([email protected]) and provide them with: Your Consumer Key (do not share the secret publicly), the exact error message and HTTP 429 responses you receive, time(s) when the errors occurred
