Flexible Shipping PRO – Extra cost for every package

Case study

Let’s assume you sell the gardening accessories and want to configure the shipping for the $3 flower pots. You can stack them one into another but only 10 of them fit into one box. So, if the customer orders e.g. 12 flower pots, they need to be splitted into 2 packages and shipped separately, if 25 – into 3 packages and so on. Sending the first package costs $8 but each next one is just $6.

How to configure such a scenario where the shipping cost amounts to $8 per first package and then only $6 per each next started set of 10 flower pots?

Plugin configuration

  1. Create a rule based on Item and set:
    • When: Item
    • rule cost is: 2
    • and additional cost is: 6
    • per: 10 Item

If you want the shipping cost of each package to be the same ($6) and not to charge more for the first one ($8), simply leave the rule cost is field empty.

Result

When your customer orders 10 or less flower pots he is charged only $8 for shipping the first package. However, when he orders more than 10 he is charged an additional $6 per each next started set of 10 flower pots, e.g.:

  1. If he orders 7x $3 flower pots the shipping cost is calculated only for the first package $2 + $6 = $8 and the order total amounts to 7 x $3 + $8 = $29.
  2. If he orders 18x $3 flower pots, their summed up price is $54, the shipping cost is calculated $2 + 2 x $6 = $14 and the order total amounts to $54 + $14 = $68.
  3. If he orders 23x $3 flower pots, their summed up price is $69, the shipping cost is calculated $2 + 3 x $6 = $20 and the order total amounts to $69 + $20 = $89.
