The Neurodivergence Project - partner in helping and building friendships

Registered on the date of 22 July 2025 by the Charity Commission for England and Wales. The Neurodivergence Project uses the ocean and the natural world to empower neurodivergent people to build confidence, lasting friendships and help them achieve their goals. Their WooCommerce store is used to help manage shipping of merchandise for their charity. This includes products like clothing and other accessories, for example, water bottles.

Starting point: Questions without answers

Neurodivergence Project met with Octolize in a significant moment – just before launching their store. In this case, the following questions arose:

  1. What shipping plugin to choose?
  2. How to tailor shipping costs?
  3. Live Rates plugin isn’t the best option to choose?

Key pillar problems

Shipping issues

01

Calculate the shipping cost based on products.

Due to the need to set shipping costs based on different products and different amounts of products, the idea was to find a proper solution that would do it at once.

02

Calculate the shipping cost with additional fee.

There is no simple, hand-holding solution and no clear messaging like “this plugin is for your case”, especially in terms of additional costs for particular products.

“As a small, new charity, every spend has to be justified and sustainable. We explored a few shipping options and quickly found that many solutions were either too expensive long-term or didn’t give us the flexibility we needed. Octolize’s Flexible Shipping plugin solved that problem by allowing us to set clear shipping rules depending on what supporters are buying, including scenarios where our shop includes both physical items and event tickets. The team were supportive throughout, and the plugin was provided free because of our charity status, which made a real difference in helping us get our online shop up and running.”
